TANAHARA MIZUKI
Mizuki Tanahara is a media artist who works with data, algorithms, and urban environments,
visualising the invisible structures embedded within contemporary digital society.
Using tools such as Processing, TouchDesigner, her practice transforms behavioural data,
algorithmic biases, and the informational systems that shape cities into poetic visual experiences.
She explores how digital infrastructures quietly influence perception, decision-making,
and patterns of movement in both virtual and physical spaces.
Her recent work centres around the question, “Is the internet healthy today?”
Through interactive installations and performative systems, she examines privacy, surveillance,
algorithmic governance, and the subtle pressures that networked environments impose on individuals.
By giving form to intangible data flows, she seeks to create spaces for reflection
on the infrastructures that shape how we live and behave.
Tanahara holds an MA in Design for Data Visualisation (Distinction) from the University of the Arts London.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at Ars Electronica, The Wrong Biennale,
ASC Gallery (Award Recipient, 2024), and DrawCircle Gallery.
Working across art, design, and research, she aims to translate complex technologies into
experiences that are both accessible and intellectually provocative.
