Sounds of markets in South London (2023)
Software: Touch Designer

I and other two people explored around Elephants & Castle and collected Sounds in this area and created the data visualisation based on these sounds.
Grocery shopping is more than just the task of finding the best prices and convenient locations. It’s an experience that involves different senses. People don’t simply purchase products; they seek out experiences.
In this study, we aim to investigate the role of sound in shaping customers’ perceptions and experiences of grocery shopping in six distinct supermarkets located in South London. Different colored circles represent differenttypes of sounds. Touching the circle will play thecorresponding animation and sound. You can touch the upper, middle and lower markets respectively to DIY your own sound atmosphere.
The five different types of sound were colour-coded and the size of the circle changed according to the score of the sound at that location.
・behavior: Purple
・equipment: Orange
・music: Red
・talking: Green
・transport: Blue
For example, at the Borough Market, the circle became larger because there were many different sounds overall, while at the iceland supermarket the circle became smaller because not many sounds were collected there.
