”モノ”から都市を観察した記録をまとめた本です
I focus on “things” in cities and observe and collect.
Zu Verschenken
Zu Verschenken means please help yourself in German.
In Berlin, there is a culture of leaving unwanted furniture, clothes, books, and other items outside, free for anyone to take. Occasionally, these items remain where they were left, blending seamlessly into the cityscape as if they had always belonged there, adding a unique charm to the streets.
Vending Machine
Vending machines are everywhere, yet the design of the machines and products change with each location. Observing them reveals the culture and habits of a city.
Watching Eyes
Posters featuring “watchful eyes” have long been used in propaganda, symbolizing mutual surveillance. In Japan, the “watching eyes” scattered across cities silently exert a subtle but constant pressure on our daily lives.
New Creatures In The Cities
One day, when I was living in Berlin, electric scooters suddenly appeared, scattered across the city like a silent invasion. Users could leave them anywhere, giving these man-made objects an almost organic presence—like a new species unexpectedly emerging within the urban landscape.
